My T5 MY08 build does the same on hard right hand turns from standstill. It has aways puzzled me why because my old MY04 T5 had no issues left or right. Is it getting repair under warranty?
Popped into my dealer to let them hear a rubbing noise/vibration I get when turning the wheel, more easily heard at low speed or stationary. Tech sat in van, I turned steering wheel slowly left and right and instant reply, "upper strut mounts, common with T5's, book it in when you want".
Mine's done over 45,000km so a little surprised and told some owners don't worry about it others have them replaced as I'm doing next Monday. Opinion is they are not greased enough in initial assembly.
Anyone else had this problem?
Cheers.

Yes. It has gotten worse since my 45K service where they actually applied some grease. Ironically it hasn't done much work at all since the service, ie no dirt roads or heavy loads but has become much louder since Friday. At the service I was given a loan van with 1800km so it was very noticable how much louder my van was. I also had the driver's side window actuator replaced after they found it faulty, it screeched when near full up or down position and some faint marks were appearing on the inside tint.
Mine makes a noise a low speed, in and out of car parks etc. Sounds like vrrrrrrrrrr sound. I thought it may have been the power steering pump but maybe its the strut mounts.

Exactly, I thought the same thing and just checked with the service staff as it had gotten louder and next month I have some long country runs under heavy load/towing where I'll be reversing back etc on farms and wanted to make sure all was OK. It's like a grinding/rubbing noise of rubber parts which is easily heard at idle/rolling slow speeds as you manouvre around. And from the dealerships reaction, very common to T5's.

So is it dangerous to continue driving with the problem?

Thanks for the info mate. I will keep an eye on it and if it gets really bad then I will replace them.

Just as a follow up, repairs carried out @ Burwins, loan van supplied during work and all covered under warranty...more importantly all is quiet again and in time for a city/country deliver run with a starting payload of 2200Kg (900kg in Van and balance in trailer that is).
