    Kumho Krugen KL33 Impressions:

Just back from 3 days camping about 4 hours driving north west of Sydney. Kumho Krugen KL33 much softer/less jarring ride compared to the Dunlop Sports. Really enjoyed the better ride on pot-holed country roads and about 10 km dirt at the end into the NP campsite. Not as precise steering feel as the Dunlops, but still very happy with them so far.

    Tyre choice

I have read this long thread with great interest last night, thank you all for posting, I owned a 2006 lwb transporter with 16” from 14,000 km to 140,000km( never changed transmission oil) bought it with original Michelin’s, they were harsh but only had to replace the around 60 ,000km, when I fitted Hankook RA28 the ride was much softer than Michelins, RAs lasted at least 50,000km I put Continentals on shortly before I sold transporter and bought a 08 multivan with 180,000km and Kumho Krugens fitted by previous owner, loved how they looked and ride was good, going from transporter to highline was huge step up! The kumhos l had to replace last year at 250,000km, was price roughly $350 so opted for something cheaper instead, tyre guy recommended Nexens, $180, they are now almost worn out after 30,000km, after reading all you guys have posted I think it’s kumhos again or maybe try the maxxis, I’m going to get prices on contis and hankooks and toyos as well. I’ll post my findings here soon, again thank you for all who contribute to this informative forum.

Hope this comment alright here admin ? my multivan which is now at nearly 275,000kms has only ever had one transmission oil change at 200,000kms maybe that is a result of living in country wa, I currently have my multi for sale on carsales in search of my dream van if any one knows about one, 2L engine, 4motion, bronze exterior, cream interior, bi xenon headlights, low kms, thanks

Toyo H08 still in good shape after 60,000

205/65/R16C. .107/105T Toyo H08 tyres wearing very well. Handling is fine...I'm not fanging around they are on my T5 LWB Camper. Done heaps of dirt, ruttered roads and they have stood up well.
Am currently on outback QLD trip and have hit some massive pot holes but all okay.
    Cheers Dennis

Just had a new set of 225/65 R17 BFG Ko2s fitted today for our trip around Aussie to replace the existing Cargo Vectors.

The spare does fit in the carrier, which is good, heading away west this weekend to give them a run and to also see how the diesel heater goes

Sorry this is the only good photo i have at the moment.

As for noise, they are louder than the cargo vectors, haven't done much KM on them to see how they handle as we headed off on a camping trip on Saturday and the Van engine light came on after 20km

Just got the van back this afternoon, they found it was a a faulty sensor on it on Monday and i had to wait for a replacement to be sent up to Brisbane.

They do look good, and the Speedo is now spot on

    Looks epic
    Bugger about faulty sensor
Let us know how they go on the trip

Is yours a 4mo or regular tdi?
Was thinking 225s or 235s but worried about potential speedo change or any fault on drive train over time if go too large than recommended
Did you get everything adjusted to suit the wheels? If so cost much?

    Hey Mtwem

Just did a quick over night trip to Ballina from Brisbane and back as i got the van back on Thursday arvo after getting it fixed.

I really do notice the noise from the tires, but i can live with them, i've only tested them on the highway at this point.

I didn't have to do anything to the speedo, i had a little allowance from factory as it was running slower than what it stated on the speedo compared to the GPS.

i went with the 225 as it does fit in the spare wheel carrier, and only charges the gearing by 4.69% from memory the 235 was around over 7% if i recall correctly.

Didn't want to stress the drive train too much and its just a Reg 132kw Tdi with a seikel lift kit

The next van will most likely be a 4 motion MWB Crafter as the base for the next camper

Hi Bryn23, just noticed your comment about "fitted with Seikel Lift Kit" can I ask where you got that done and any comments appreciated.
    Cheers Dennis

I ordered it through Trakka as they are the distributor here in Aus for the Transporter, you use to be able to buy direct from Seikel, but im not sure if you can still do that.

The Seikel kit is quite balanced, It wasn't cheap, but the van feels a lot better on the road, and I've found the lift has been handy offroad.

I had it shipped to me and had it fitted by a local 4x4 that fits the Seikel Amarok lift kits
