    T5 Tyre Life

    Hi New here

I have a SWB T5 1.9 Tdi, which has just passed 15,000kms & both front tyres are completley worn !. The vehicle is used for light courier work.

It was fitted from new with the standard Vanco tyres that come with these vehicles.

Does anyone have experience with the tyre life on T5's & could they recommend a good long lasting tyre.

    Many thanks in advance

Pirelli tyres usually last long time. I put Hankook on my T5 (235/55/17); original Michelin were worn out at 37,000km (at 25000km were down to 2mm).
I'm happy with Hankooks - cost $195 against the Michelins $550.
Cooper tyres have guaranteed 50,000 Km's or even more.
    Shop around.

    Cheers,
    MRL T5

I average 45000 to 47000k's on a set of Michelins. you need to rotate tyres every 5000 to 7500k's to get good life. cost $440 each and worth all the money.

Yes, I rotated them every 5,000km myself and checked tyres pressure once a week.
There are too many factors which affect the tyres life.
Where do you drive, how many turns you do, braking and how fast do you accelerate (driving style), how much load do you carry.
The quality of tyres can fluctuate too.
Michelin tyres on my last van (Vito) lasted over 70,000km.
I don't see any difference between Hankook RA23 and Michelin Pilot Premacy. Handling on wet road seems to be better than on dry one and they will most likely last longer.
Originally I wanted to get Hankook Ice Bear which is available in Europe and pattern is similar to Pilot Premacy since it is not available in Oz I took a risk with Hankooks RA 23 for very sweet $195 each and I will get them next time as well.

I've got 17,000Km on std 16" michelins, and so far wear is only just noticeable. Recently rotated them (and brought the spare into the rotation). They are slightly noisy on coarse chip bitumen, but wear well and give good grip, even in the wet. I do 85% highway driving, don't go around corners fast (well, not too often , very occasional drags at the lights, otherwise a "gentle" driving style in a 128Kw manual LWB van with a light/medium load.

I'd probably buy Michelins again unless something else is way better.

Now up to 31K on the the Michelin Primacy tyres on our T5. Still a couple of mm's left in the tread at least. I think the only reason for changing to a different tyre would be if I wanted a different (larger) rim size.

My wifes t5 is on about 75,000km and the original michellins. Only rotated at service time. I'll be buying these again for sure. She does about 100km round trip each day to work and back.

    Michellins

Seeing that we have had such a great run out of the michellins, has anyone priced them up recently? Best price so for is $250 in Wollongong. Anyone do better?
