Are you sure the turbo vanes move freely, that's usually the cause of limp mode with turbo issues.Don't need a recon turbo to fix that.

Mine is sluggish below 2000-rpmish uphill also, and usually resort to manual mode as well.
And if you floor it in the lower gears(1 to 3 mainly), the engine revs too much as the auto won't change quick enough

Thanks for the offer I just cannot trust VW to do the diagnosis as they only want to do the cost for a complete replacement of a part . Might get back in touch with Jmac although he is very hard to get a booking with .
