    T5 transmission cooler

I found plenty of threads with discussion on aftermarket oil coolers for the auto trannies in T5s, but little if any info.

I've just fitted a 2500 kg towbar and even though I will rarely tow anything near that weight, I want to mother the auto so it doesn't pop too soon. It's coming up to 150,000 ks and is mostly ok so far

Is the existing cooler adequate, or should it be upgraded

And what is available for upgrade

Has anyone had one fitted, what did you pay, and have you noticed any change in the tranny temp

Or has nobody bothered to do it?

It could be worthwhile to install temp. gauge for the ATF, and compare the temperatures to while you're towing.

Already have one of those, Transporter. Just sits on 150 all day long, never moves.
But, I haven't been towing yet

    Should check before I type
Sits on 100, and all the books that came with the van are for a Caravelle, not a Multi
I got an idea the temp gauge is for engine oil temp, not atf
