I still like the good old days , that's why I am down on modern technology , I can remember my Valiant V8 with a simple three speed auto . That auto could take any thing you cared to throw at it . Coupled to the Fireball 318 engine and me being 18 years old with lots of desire to push the V8 to its limits the auto never gave a moments trouble as it would get serviced every 40000kays they would remove the sump to do adjustments if required , now on a regular basis I would be slamming it into D1 and gently touch the brakes to hold the front discs which would let the back end drop the hugest wheelies around . Lost count of how many sets of tyres I went through in those days with engine being pushed to the redline and even after over 250000kays the auto was still performing like new . No Flaring no "false neutrals "no temperamental gear changes because the new stuff gets "confused " Service the new ones now there"s a joke take $600 hard earned $$ and what do you get a sneaky way of changing fluid with minimal work and connect it to a computer to see whats wrong and probably not be able to fix it with a computer anyway . Sorry Umai definitely no offence to any mechanic on this forum , but in my day there were real mechanics who would pull something apart to fix it . Plus the car makers were not afraid to allow the mechanics to replace a simple part , whereas today they do not trust them to do a simple repair just supply whole components . Can anyone tell me why when a $20 bearing in an aircon compressor fails that you have to buy a whole unit , which then cost the poor punter nearly two grand . Sorry I am never probably going to be "over "it .
