T5 Tdi poor starting and bad running

As above i know there has been a few out there with intermittant bad starts. There is a few things to check which all take time and good diagnosis otherwise many pennies spent to have the same result. Had the chance to check one today that has been bad starting int for a while now , one that never played up when checked. The give away was that it was making oil, which in basic terms is oil level rising with addition of diesel. Injector bores can wear on these engines and can be resealed with o rings for a while but can end up needing a new head eventually due to wear. Injectors removed today revealed a nice crack in the injector bore and across land where the injector bolts on. Will post some pics if they turn out.
Where im heading with this is it is diagnosed the same as any diesel, as leak back or air in system, here it is leak to the sump
But end result is needs a new head
