    T5 "Service Due" Warning

    Hi,

Can someone with a T5 please tell me for how long the "SERVICE DUE IN ...KM" or the "SERVICE NOW" message actually displays in the cluster after you start the engine?

I want to know how many seconds it stays displayed for.

On the Golf's etc it stays on for 20 seconds, but I believe the T5 warning is much shorter.

What year is yours? Mine is 2005 and it's less than 20s.

I have an R32 with the 20 second display.

I have identified a byte in the cluster EEPROM that I believe controls the time of the display for this message.

On the Transporter, the byte is different to Golf/Passat etc, so I am trying to confirm the exact time it displays for on the T5.

If you can confirm the exact time from your observations, that would be fantastic.

    I have a 2011 T5 and it doesn't do this at all.

    Thanks Luke.

I am more interested in the 2003 ~ 2009 model T5 information at this point as the clusters are very similar to Golf EEPROM-wise.

In any case, there should be a facility in your cluster to turn on the service warning with the softcoding.

The warning message only shows up if the service is due within about 3000 km or if its overdue time-wise, not all the time.

Once it appears it counts down the km in 100km intervals as you get closer to service.

I've timed it for you and it is just bellow 20s, but I didn't start the engine, I've just let the message go off with the ignition turned ON (I didn't re-read your original post). Will check it again tomorrow when I start the engine, but I think it will stay displayed only the remaing time from when the key was turned to ign. ON, so longer you wait before the start the shorter time will message remain ON after the start up.

So who's going to service it?

What kind of question is that?

Me of course. This or next weekend, always before Summer and before Winter.
I never had the dealer to do service on any of our cars.
