T5 Performance Tuning: Who's done it?

I'm thinking of getting a performance tune for my 09 Multivan. The poor economy compared to my 05 T5 is bugging me so I have also been looking into a DPF delete.

If you have had your van tuned, what company did you go with and what was the result?

    Hi Ivo,
What engine do you have, and what economy are you getting? Manual or auto?

    City Driving : 2005 was getting 9.5lts/100, 2009 is getting 11.5lts/100

    Hwy 2005 was 8.5lts/100, 2009 is 9.8 lts/100

Reading on the UK forums, guys with DPF deletes are getting on average 3-5mpg better.

Just out of curiosity can any one give us an idea of the RPM the new 2.0 lt diesel is doing at 100kmh compared to the 2.5 128 diesel . Our T5 128 2005 gets around the same figures shown and is sitting on just a tad under 2000 rpm at 100 kmh , my point is have VW pulled the same stunt they did with the demise of the old 2.5 petrol engine in the T4 and then introduced the 2.0 lt petrol in The T5 that screams its butt off at 100 kmh . The 2.0 is doing 3300 rpm at 100 compared to 3000 in the old 2.5 T4 . The end result of this type of deception is yes you get more performance from smaller capacity motors but the trade off is reduced engine life because its runing at much higher RPMs to achieve the same performance levels by changing the final drive gearing . My guess is that it is 20% more RPM than 2.5L

Please tell me that you are kidding 20% higher RPM thats absolutly crap! if that thats how they get performance at our expense because the engine wont last as long they should be ashamed to call themselves engineers . Howard

I'll confirm it tomorrow, but from memory, my 132kw DSG sits on approx. 1600-1800rpm at 100km/h. The 132kw is a very low revving motor.

FYI, I consistently get 8.0l/100km around town, and 7.2l/100km on the highway. These figures are not on short trips, they are the average over a full tank.

IN2VWS, they are good numbers from the 132.

I have been emailing several tuners, some can tune the DPF out, others cant. Some a are very responsive to my questions, others not quite.

A couple of them are offering 2 tunes on the one unit so I can swap between an economy tune and a full performance tune. The unit also retains the original factory setting so I can swap it back if needed.

Ivo. Any chance of letting us know who and what sort of numbers they are talking about? I've got an '05 2.5 Touareg and am considering a tune. I'm heading more towards a remap rather than an add on chip. My car tells me over the 6000km I've owned it I'm averageing 9.9l/100km which I'm happy with.
