    T5 Passenger Airbag

I’m in the process of having child seats fitted to the front bench and so I’ve disconnected the passenger airbag.

Is there a way to do this without triggering the airbag warning light?

I don't know what legality there is with disabling the airbag circuit.
But the circuit tests for resistance of the igniter for the self-test, if let's say a 2 - 3ohm resistor ends up on the end where the airbag would be; it would trick the module. * again not recommending this

Hypothetically speaking would one just bend a suitable resistor into a U shape and insert it into the plug?

First thing I would ask is what type of child seat does it have a top tether strap or an ISO fitting . If neither then you should not be fitting any child seat in that position . All child seats require if needed a top tether and that is usually on the floor behind or built in to the seat back itself , but again it should have been fitted by VW at the factory . I was a Qld certified officer for child seats extra seat seat belts and lots of other conversions and safety is utmost when it comes to children . You cant just fit a child seat and hook the strap to some unknown part of the frame unless it was there from factory , you see if you just fit the top tether too the floor or something else in an accident the child seat and child will be thrown forward and the seat back if not designed will bend forward and snap off causing severe injury to the child . Please get advice from one of the approved places in your state as to the best method .

    T5 Passenger Airbag

    Hey Sunny
I’ve got the van booked in to have a CRAB bar fitted.

Edit: fitting also includes mod plating.

Perfect glad to hear that , yes I fitted lots of those I,m not sure but you might have got away with a Tech Safe post which is single position one mounted behind the seat but bolted to the floor . As for the Air bag if you can have it immobilised that would be fine as most cars these days have the ability to turn off a passengers airbag .

I was given the option of having the anchor points somehow fitted to the base of the bench seat. However this was dependent on finding out the schematics and materials used in the bench seat backrest. I wouldn’t know how to get this info so just opted for the CRAB bar.
