    T5 Oil requirements

Hi all, I have a 2012 Transporter runner ( with Blufin tune) and chasing some top up engine oil. I checked the manual and there is no mention which to use. Apart from getting ripped at a dealer, does anyone know of a suitable approved oil for top up's for this vehicle? It is a 2.0L Common Rail Turbo Diesel.

I know this will sound a bit strange , we picked up our new T5 last Monday and was told by the dealer that if the van needed a "top up' it was a free service at the dealer just stop in and they will do it on the spot . I will double check next week but maybe its just the one dealer who knows . they call it a Pit Stop .

My dealer said the same thing. If it's low on oil, drive past and they will top it up for nothing.
I am assuming this is because they service it for me. I can't imagine them offering that to you if you get your van serviced elsewhere though.

The higher than normal oil usage is only during running in period and it settles within first 15,000km, there should be no need for frequent top ups later on, so they do it for everybody incl. Sunny43.5

....the free top ups? I see it as the acceptance of the guilt and I think they only came with it when some VW engines in the brand new cars started to use the ridiculous amount of oil.

However, the TDI engines usually use less oil.

To answer the OP question; you can buy Liqui Moly 507.00 oil in 1L bottles as well as the Penrite Enviro from most good parts stores, however buying it in 5L is more economical and chances are that you will use it for top ups within 12-24 months.

Cool, Im heading past the dealer midweek (for a replacement door trim under warranty) so I will hit them up first. It has used a little oil but at this time it has travelled 3100kms. So a little bit of oil usage should be normal I would imagine.
