    t5 mag wheels

    Hi all!
    I have a 2014 t5 transporter,
I'm just after a bit of guidance, in regards to replacing my stock t5 16" wheels to "other" larger mag wheels.
What fits? what size is better (17" 18" ) to go up to keeping in mind replacement Tyre availability and costings.
and what about offsets and what wheels are load rated?
    thanks Michael

No matter how expensive the 17" tyres are for my T5 4mo, I like the look of the 17" stock steel wheels. They are inexpensive too.

Sort of agree Transporter but 16's are a bit on the small size for the T 5 's wheel arches 17's or 18's are going to give a better look in filling out the arches . Cost wise well that's always the owners decision .

    You confuse me now.

I have the 17"steelies on my van, never had 16" and I agree with you that they look small.

Why would they be better? Or would they simply look better? Which is an entirely different thing.

All of ours are on 17's I think its the best of both worlds , any bigger and the tyres are coming down in profile . Driving on rubber bands is not my cup of tea , tried it once lasted all of a couple of months so got rid of them and went to bigger tyres as the rims had been supplied with lo profile tyres and the ride was Bloody awful ! .

The problem with 16" is the lack of premium tyres in this size. You mostly get rough van-derived tyres, that are noisy and jittery.

In 17" you can get premium car-derived tyres, that stick better, ride better, but still have the required 103 load rating, see 17" tyre thread.

As for 18", you might be reducing some of the performance, they are harder for the engine to turn as they are heavier and wider (needs to be wider at 255 width in order to contain the similar air volume as 17" at 235 or 16" at 215. I read somewhere that adding 1 kg to rotating mass is equivalent to adding many kgs to overall mass, depending on the speed.
