Thread: T5 ECU Tuning

  1. #11

    OK, spent some time 0-100 testing the stock car today, this one is a LWB van, DSG 132kw (empty in the back).

    The DSG box is awesome around town, but from a standstill, it is, well sort of slow. I suppose they never built the transporter for it's acceleration abilities.

    It's always the problem with larger vehicles, if your lucky the courtesy car is of the excel/accent variety... sort of useless if you need to move 6 people (hence getting the van in the first place). Here's hoping we never have to find out just how much fun it is.

    6 runs, sport mode, ESP off, best 11.2, worse 11.6 - reasonably consistent.

    Now that's with the Racelogic Databox. Now there is a great initial "Pause" from the DSG, so at the 1/4 mile, you would have trouble hitting the green light. Reaction time would not be easy to get spot on

    I was thinking of an upgrade from my 128KW to the new bi-turbo - but maybe not .....

    Well, much improved with the flash. Clocked off several 9.4 second runs, so that's an easy 1.5 - 2 seconds faster 0-100 than stock.

    Much improved was the 60-100 times, more than the 0-60 times which the DSG seemed to have a mind of its own.

    I am perfecting my GoPro Video techniques as we go.

    Shogun2, if you tow anything, I think the old 128kw with manual transmission is still the go. For general running around, cruising etc, this new combo is hard to beat

    Thanks for the comment Guy.
    I do like the manual, and I don't know how I'd go with the dsg. I also have a tow bar fitted, and am hoping to take a 4wd camper trailer off road at some stage in the future.
    I'm wondering about a diesel/lpg conversion at the moment in an effort to up the fuel economy and lower the particulates. I wonder how this would compare to an Oettinger remap. But I'll put this into a new post.

    Anyone tried a Revo tune on their T5?

    Lists for EUR499/AUD656
    130 -> 160 bhp
    250 -> 295 lbft

    I'm curious to find out what the local price is...
