If you read Foxpuppets first post about the problem he made it quite clear he was driving a "VAN" so Transporter it is . Woops just realized the comment was made about GAVS car not Foxpuppets van .

T5 DSG dropping gear? WTF HELP?

Wow, what a backhanded non compliment! Try to help people out and get smacked in the face for it.

Ok, so as part of this, I'll just stick with the dq200 and dq250 boxes and you lot with the dq500's can fend for yourself?

I have literally spent a couple of hours a day over the last 7 months researching and contacting people all over the world, even to the extant of tracking down and emailing an employee of the polish mechatronics plant (who make many differen mechatronic units) to try and HELP all dsg owners, especially because the problems are spread across all the dsg boxes, not limited to the insignificant passenger vehicles.

Sorry FoxPuppet, your bretheren just pissed me off too much for me to care about your problem anymore. Your on your own...

Fully aware of that....wasn't commenting on his posts. Was referring to Gav whose problems are not Transporter related at all.

Yes I know I corrected that part but hey if VW have problems with DSG's in other model cars and yes different DSG boxes whose to say that the ones in the Transporters wont also develop the same or similar issues . I am glad someone is taking it to VW regardless of what model auto and one little more thing to add , Transporters weigh nearly twice as much as a car so their weight combined with carried load will place more stress on components .

...........It's like me saying "Don't buy a manual VW Polo, because the T5 tiptronics have problems."
2 different cars with different transmissions.

Don't misunderstand me....I feel for the VW passenger car owners with the DSG problems. But why vent that on the Transporter forum, where there no DSG failures (yet)? We are nearly 3 years into the T5.1 DSG's......Where are all the problems? The problems with the passenger cars were appearing from when the cars were nearly new and low kilometers.

Sorry IN2VWS I disagree the whole point of this thread is that Foxpuppet "IS" having problems with his DSG and its nearly 3 years old , as I have also recently posted our new T5 DSG has twice failed to engage forward drive after reversing out of our driveway stop engage drive foot off brake then to accelerator and down the hill we go backwards we roll WTF. Stomp on brake deselect drive back to park back to drive and same thing third time lucky so 2000 kays and it has its first hiccup . Look I am critical of this new technology I just don't get a warm fuzzy feeling with the DSG it has some very strange habits even when on the road , Just today I was on a level highway cruise control engaged at a steady 108 kmh decided to get up to 110 so tapped the cruise stalk once for a fraction of a second and the auto changed down from 7 to 5 ???? two gear changes for two kilometres an hour increase in speed . I will admit that after the debacle with our Tiptronic I am much more aware of how this new one works and goes so yes I will admit to being maybe paranoid but when you read worldwide issues with the DSG I think anyone is entitled to be concerned . One last comment over on VW Australia's Facebook page there are other T5 owners with DSG problems and not everyone knows about this forum or is a member . If you are convinced that these DSG's are going to be okay why did you suggest Foxpuppet gets an extended warranty ??

Read my post again.....I did not suggest the extended warranty......I asked a question.

I also did not say or suggest that the OP does not have a problem. I am saying, there are no mass failures or ****loads of owners with the same problem.
I understand that you are critical of the DSG, mainly due to the problems that you had with the tiptronic.
Can you please share with me, where I might find all the T5 dsg failures.....I am not talking about isolated, one of faults. These happen in any car....even cars with manual gearboxes. I am talking about the masses all having the same failures......like the passenger car DSG's.

Gavs, I don't think he was smacking you in the face, just adding some info to clarify that your car and my van are different so others don't get led astray.

I searched for issues with transporter specific problems with dsg and came up with nix, hence my thread. Every other thread or site I found with info on similar dsg failure symptoms has been for passenger cars not commercial.

I personally am appreciating all the feedback and help from EVERYONE, Gavs it was your info that made me mention the mechatronics unit to the guy in the local VW service department which in turn led the tech down that line of inquiry as he personally had no idea what to do after flashing the gearbox update and sent the question to VW Australia.

Hopefully I will be getting a loan van/vehicle on Monday. Ill ask about the extended warranty then as well.

    To Gav,

Good on you for trying to do something for the Passenger cars with the problems. I sincerely mean that.
But why try to fix something that is not broken? I am talking about our T5 DSG's. Where are all the T5 DSG failures? So how can you push VWA to fix the dq500? What are they going to fix? What should they be looking for?

Okay I am willing to agree there are probably at this time isolated cases and I offer my sincerest apologies for jumping in feet first . I also agree you did not tell him he to purchse an extended warranty it was just asked of him . Sorry I sometimes let my emotions get ahead of my mouth or fingers in this case , like I said we are coming up on the three year mark with the DSG in our vans and the DSG has been around in other models for longer and it is public knowledge that these have had problems . So the question should be is the latest DSG in Transporters better than the ones in other model VW's or are we going to see problems after the 3 year mark which seems to be the turning point .
