Yes changing fluid is in the service book at 60.000 but NOT the filter [unless you own a Caddy] you have to ask for it to be done pity the poor schmuck who does not know about the filter and some time down the track the fluid decays and debris blocks the filter what will VW tell that customer when he is facing a huge repair bill outside of warranty .
I will repeat look at page one of this thread very first post , Transporter T5 DSG problem , ours also has had two unplanned shifts to neutral at only a couple of thousand kays . How many owners of T5's who are not members of this forum also "may" have had issues that we have not heard about over on Volkswagen Australia's Facebook page I recall some T5 owners with issues with DSG . Obviously not a large number but as they are only coming up to the magic 3 year mark since release who knows what the future will hold .
Thanks Howard. Do you have links to the VW pages that you saw?
In my opinion, 2 problems are not massive failures.
T5 dsg owners with problems do not know about the watercooled forum........yet the golf DSG owners with problems have no problems finding this forum and every other forum......
It is not just me, others on here have also said that they have searched the net looking for Transporter DSG problems/failures, and they haven't found any.
No offence intended, but either put up, or shut up.
As you will have seen, I have repeatedly asked for the evidence of these mass failures of Transporter DSG failures, and still the nay sayers have not produced anything. Even Golf Loon who sees a few a week can't/won't provide anything.
I think that many are getting paranoid about the DSG problems in the T5 and the Tiguan, so when the DSG just sneezes it's all trumpeted as the DSG failure, just because of the past.

Yes maybe some of us are paranoid put your self in my shoes , everyone knows my story and it still burns me to think what I could have spent that $11000 on other than a new auto for a lousy 135.000 kays of motoring . The new van is a great drive I love it but I do not look forward to what may transpire 3 or so years from now . Yes its fine while its in warranty but what about after warranty who pays for this technology when the manufacturer just hangs you out to dry . If the first two incarnations of the DSG the 200 and 250 models are anything to go on who is to say the 500 is going to be any better ? Have VW fixed whatever plagued the first two , yes the 500 can handle bigger torque but why did the first two have so many problems with the much smaller engines .
.......ummm, because they couldnt handle the. Torque?Originally Posted by Sunny43
Howard, I fully understand your frustrations, anger, disappointment and any other emotions due to the tiptronic transmission. IMO you are fully justified in feeling this way..... But that was the Tiptronic. We are now talking about DSG failures, which you have read about on the web.....but will not share with us the links.
Only time will tell what will happen with our DSG transmissions, but for now they are running pretty good. So for now, I would not call them a success, nor a failure.
Okay at this point I will concede defeat , but please if they start to play up I hope its not yours involved it is just such a draining and disgusting problem and unfortunately money is the part that is hard to part with to remedy a technology that has proven in previous models to be a problem . In my opinion VW knew the Tiptronic was a disaster that's why they dropped it so quickly , so the DSG was their next attempt to rebuild VW buyer confidence and the first two did not match up again to customers expectations . So we hope the third one is going to go the distance .
I feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
Dealer has offered to repair damage to wheel. All I have to do is bring the wheel in and they will take care of it. It's an unusual black colour, how well or unwell can this go?
The nice part is they are going to repair a very small graze i did myself about 4 months ago. Pretty happy with the offer... If it looks crap I can always get a 5th wheel and make this one the spare!
