    T5 Drivers Door Wiring Loom

Hi all I’m trying to piece together the electrics on my drivers door. The loom the van came with looks to have been hacked at.

I bought a loom today out of a newer T5 Caravelle. My Transporter is a 2004. But the coloured connector that plugs in under the dash is slightly different to the original connector. For reference the original connector is a cream colour while the new connector is a dark red.

The dark red connector has more wires on it but I suspect this is because the Caravelle has a lock/unlock buttons?

Is there any way to use the new loom but retain the cream coloured connector?

I’ve bought a day subscription to Erwin but cannot make sense of the connection flow diagrams to translate the connector pins.

I’m trying to avoid an expensive trip to a sparky.

If anyone can direct me to a wrecker that can help that would be awesome!

Oh and the original loom seems to be missing a connector for the mirror and one of the window motor connectors among other issues. Hence not wanting to fix it.

if you de-pin both the old and new connectors, you should be able to make it work.
Learn how to read the wiring diagrams from erwin, https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives...rrent_Flow.pdf
Even building the loom if you have all the correct connectors is possible.

Have you got a few pics of what the connectors look like?

    Thanks Mig that’s very helpful!

I’ve managed to find the correct wiring loom and have fitted it. I’m now waiting to receive another window motor.

Though I was speaking to a sparky yesterday and he mentioned I may have problems because I’m not using the original window motor electrical board (the black box that sits between the wiring connector and the motor itself- I don’t know the correct term). He had replaced the window motor on a Golf and when pressing the window open button it triggered the central locking and didn’t open the window…

Guessing if I encounter this problem I’ll need to have some recoding / recalibration done??
