    T5 drive shaft failure

Right side drive shaft has stripped out the splines at the diff end. Need to know where to get a new one or more importantly where not to. I will replace the diff output shaft also as the splines are warn on it as well.

They generally only strip the splines off the output shaft hub, as it's designed to be a sacrificial part. That's only held in with a long bolt in the centre.

Last time I looked into it, you couldn't get the output shaft in the transmission on it's own. You have to buy the whole gearbox.

Stub shaft and c.v. shaft are both available seperatly from VW, very common issue, i think stub shaft is about $400 and driveshaft is exchange from VW at about $550 i think, be carefull with the seal, as V-worx said their is a bolt through the centre of the stub holding it on.
