Could you tell me we’re you bought this bull bar from or did you get it made
I have a T5 Multivan (2006) and because I live in a regional town, people seem to be unable to park on the street without any regard for other road users, so many times now I have found another car almost butted up to my car, making it almost impossible to get out.
My main worry is some yokel reversing into my front bumper.
I have a modified ARB nudge bar awaiting fitting for some time now and am considering fitting it, with mounting modification and modified fwd parking sensor mounting.
looking at the mounting looks to be an issue, the main area to mount the bar is from under the van from the engine/gearbox subframe, it has a few holes under it (drain holes i can gather). The fabricator in me says to drill those holes right through the subframe and mount the nudgebar from underneath from purpose made mounts, the engineer in me says this could cause a weak point in the structure.
other wise the other way would be to drill across the frame and make a mount adapter to mount from the side of the subframe.
I think the majority of transporter mountings seem to be from the frame rails at the front from what I can interpret in the pictures online.

Hi Ades, I have also done a fair bit of research on the internet for Multivan nudge bar options, I recall as you say, some bars going all the way underneath the front bumper to mount underneath the van somewhere, no sure where, some only mount via plates through the front, I reckon mounting from underneath and also two plates through to the front plate is probably the sturdiest option.
Hey kombi,
thanks for the feedback, yes i forgot to mention about the mounts from the front of the frame rails. noting the weight of the nudge bar I think mid support would be called for and reduce the stress on the subframe mount.

Maybe a retro T2 bar will look cool ...
