2014 T5.1 Multivan Tuned by Pendle Performance Australia
Thanks Ivo, Purchased yesterday. To use with Bmw X5 18 inch wheels. I am starting to look around for tyres. Does anyone have a suggestion for a semi-practical tyre(cost & kms). I have read a few tyre reviews but not many people running around with two tonnes plus on their tyres. Also looking at lowering Van with Elbach springs.(30mm) Still want to be able to tow and after standing wheels next to Van It looks like it will be a bit higher. No real problem with extra height but I am wanting to loose some of the lean in corners.
I run Yokahama ADVANS on my VW Savana 18 inch rims.
I got 60,000 KMS out of the last set. Expensive but high quality, load rated sport van tyres.

Ha.. That isn't stacked.
I've lost the shot from the back of the van but this is what the side door looked like.

There was 3 bikes in the van, full riding gear for 5 people including leathers, stands, some fuel cans, tyres, tool kits etc. It was loaded to the roof and there wasn't any room left. also had 3 bikes on a trailer! note careful insertion of bags!

Welcome to Australia land of the ADR,s this system of requirements that cars have to comply with for safety before being sold in Australia . I worked for 15 years with my business doing vehicle conversions seats seat belts and other related things , believe me you need to be an engineer to understand what the rules mean . What used to amaze me was seat belts , what passes for the rest of the worlds does not pass here in Australia . Import vehicles had to have "Australian" standard belts fitted , I know that our standards are supposed to be amongst the highest in the world but I some times doubt that they are neccesarily the best or safest . The same applies to every part of the cars so wheels are also included in these regulations . Howard
As far as I am aware in NSW (only! typical) any spacer of the hub is illegal and deemed not road worthy. Hub spacers (moving wheel out) and stud pattern adapters are deffo, I'm trying to find out if spigot rings fall into the same category. I would be very surprised if they were OK, I'm also trying to find out if machining center bores on wheels is actually legal. most wheels have a larger center bore with a flange at the hub for the correct size, I guess this is so the wheel maker doesn't need to worry about it in the design until the last minute. I'm unsure if you'd be allowed to sleeve a wheel center with metal or anything here. QLD and VIC have totally different rules to NSW and even NSW don't follow the federal guidelines that are a lot less strict. It's pretty ****y here in NSW
Sleeves seem to be okay in Qld as when we had alternate alloys fitted to our T5 they fitted hub rings no problem . Howard
What are sleeves?
I know what spigot rings and hub spacers and pattern adapters are but sleeves is a new one!
I wish we all spoke the same language...
How do people go on driving from state to state?
Does your vehicle have to be correct for the state you are driving through or the one it has rego for?
