    T5 battery going flat

Over the past year my T5’s battery has been under attack and I need to find the culprit.

With everything turned off its pulling about 200mA from the battery. Yesterday I started to remove fuses to find the source. I’ve got back to Wire number 2, which is fed off a 125Amp fuse under the battery.

Does anyone know what wire no. 2 feeds, and the route it takes? Anyone have a wiring diagram handy.

    Thanks for that. Mines a 2003 128kW.

What you've listed seems to make sense, I've got a partial wiring diagram in polish, so I can now tie the Bxxx numbers to wire numbers. then when I jump to a different track I get lost in Polish again. I think I need to get the english wiring diagram. Need to get to Erwin but won't have time until tomorrow and i need to get this van back together, the kids are desperate for camping at the weekend.

    Any further guidance appreciated.

You must have one of the first T5s.

That particular fuse information is the same up to August 2006. Let us know what caused the current drain and what was the fix.

Going crazy, must be the lack of sleep, mines a 2005 not 2003. Yeah if I find the drain I'll post it up.

Found the current drain fault. There was a relay connected between my alarm and the door central locking. The relay was on (i.e. drawing current) the whole time the doors were unlocked. My battery was going flat because recently I’ve been leaving my van unlocked for days at a time.

Slightly frustrated I took some much of the van to pieces to find it. I had unplugged my alarm as the first step of fault finding but this extra relay was tucked up out of the way away from the alarm.

I managed to get the wiring diagram for the alarm and I can kind of see what the installer has done but it’s not the way I would have chosen and the alarm manufacturer couldn’t explain why they might have installed it that way.
Anyway I’ve re-wired the alarm as per the manufacturer’s installation instructions. I no longer have excessive current drain and my alarm works so I’m happy.
