    T5 backfire through airbox

    T5 Mutlivan 2007 Highline 6 speed manual diesel 27,000km

Backfired today and blew the airhose off at the retaining clip. Never done that before.

Retattached ran fine till there was an increase in pressure and then blew it off again. No error/warning lights on dash.

Towed to dealer, 20 days out of warranty but as I'd had it serviced there they seemed okish re just out of warranty issue. 24-48 hours to look at it.

Any ideas as to why this would happen?

Plenty of diesel in the tank and I do long enough trips every day to get everyting fully warmed up, although this happened before it was fully warm.

    Cheers

    T5 backfire

Had the same problem with our T5 mongrel blew the intercooler hose off refitted it got 500 mt did it again refit again and the bloody thing just wouldn,t stay on ended up fitting two screws each oposing side as it had worn out the part where the clip fits . Any way hasn,t backfired since that period of time . All I can think of is that the mongrel rip off fuel companies had had a bad batch of fuel if that is possible . My son has a T4 diesel which has now developed a fuel leak at the injector pump , read somwhere that the f-ing greenies have made fuel companies do something to diesel fuel end result was large trucking companies had half their fleet off road because they developed problems with seals because of the change to diesel fuel . Something to do with sulphur in diesel .
