Hi JJ
Have you had any luck with information on this?

I am just wondering if it is possible to get a rear diff lock fitted to my 2008 T5 4motion SWB 128kw/400nm van.(and cost indication if possible.)
I am thinking of going for a drive to Cape York and wondering how easily this can be achieved in this vehicle.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

No, sorry.
Have you tried talking to Haldex?
No, I have decided not to continue with this idea. I have done a little test driving on tracks about as bad as any I encountered on an Around Australia trip I did in 1996 in a T3 Synchro. De Grey river, Gibb River Road, Mitchell Falls, Bungle Bungles, Employment road house, Lawn Hill to name a few of my way points.
Bumping this one as I'm also really interested in hearing whether this is possible (and economically viable).
There is some discussion about retrofitting a rear diff lock in this thread, but it sounds like that is adding a lock to a regular diff centre.
I would instead be looking for a complete lockable diff centre and wiring from a wrecked vehicle and fitting it straight in. Being a mechanical unit, it seems possible although I don't understand the Haldex system and what interaction (if any) needs to be considered.
A few questions from other members who know the T5 mechanicals:
* Would the Haldex system be affected by a rear diff lock?
* Do any other vehicles share the same diff centre as the Transporter?
They do come up, something like this:
VOLKSWAGEN TRANSPORTER T5 DIFF LOCK TYPE DIFF CENTRE 09N525010C #32202 | eBay
...and the part number could also be handy (not the price, though!):

Page 44 of this document provides a great explanation on how the diff lock functions (2004, but I would assume it's still similar):

The document gives a pretty good idea of what needs to be salvaged... doesn't look cheap .
Buried in another thread about lift kits is a summary from forum member MAD:
Lift kit for T5 4 Motion - supplier?
It's possible but sounds like a major project. Unfortunately!
