I intro'd myself in the Noob section, but thought this more spacious section is appropriate.

In the meantime, here's a vid clip from Makgadikgadi. You may need to cock your head. All vids taken on a iPhone 4S

Please ask about travel in Botswana, Zambia
Trust us there are places here in Australia that can put on a dust storm worse than that one , the dust in some places here is actually finer than Talcum Powder , they call it Bull Dust !!! real choke your car to death stuff gets into every part of your car its amazing where you find it inside after travelling along dirt roads have a look at this one a few years back Broken Hill Dust Storm Australia - YouTube day becomes night and its on a sealed highway !! Welcome to the Forum please let us know how the VW scene is in Africa .
Nice! What are the specs of the van? (Diff locks?)

How are you finding the Seikel suspension? Did you buy local or have to import?
I'm looking at more lift for my Kombi Beach. I was considering air suspension and noted that there was a RSA firm doing a kit.
Sand storm on Australia Day a couple years back in the Cooper Basin...
Aussies know how to do dust. Can't play rugger.
The Seikel is hard and durable. Bilstein shocks Sportsvan does the Maxx kit for about €1600. Much softer same lift. Probably the way to go. Koni shocks, adjustable.
Seikel is a VWSA import and has VWAG approval. Maxx has TUV mark but not VW AG approval. Seikel double the price.

Thanks for the info.
"Air = go kart ride" - damn. I want the ride quality of the big German ambulances. Compliant enough in the back not to jar the cargo, but can handle weaving through traffic at high speed.
Seikel at ~EUR3200!!! I'll have a look at the Maxx kit.
Wallabies have yet to reclaim the mantle of the golden era of Eales, Gregan, Elsom, Sharp, Latham, Tuqiri, Rogers, Giteau, Mortlock...hey, I'm an optimist - I drive a T5!
