Hello - you did-not say if it was the same when going into 3rd from 4th or if it was different hot or cold - it could most lightly be the sinchromesh made of bronze parts - an oil analysis will help to predict a fault. the job will cost very much more than a new syncromesh - I have been inside my gearbox a couple of times and it is a long time consuming job - the subframe has to be taken out first - it's a bit involved - if you can find a g-box place that has done one before.
