350TSI Specifications now downloadable from VW's website. Official launch must be imminent.

Importantly, torque is 350NM from 1500rmin to 4000rmin !!!!! thats a 2500rmin torque plateau !!!

Official fuel consumption is higher than the TDI's but I've found the TDI consumption figures to be totally unreliastic .... 103TDI used on average 13l/100km in towndriving and thats with me diving it like I have 1.5 feet in the grave .... drive enthusiastically I'm getting 15l/100km and its still slow. I'm expecting the TSI to deliver the same 13l/100km except I'll be doing 0-100 in 7seconds (once tuned) .....

That's bad, but I think that others are getting much better fuel economy than you Sharkie. I never got nowhere near 13L/100km in mine. The worst ever I got was 11.6L/100km at very dodgy BP servo operator. My long term average is just below 10L/100km, short trips, fully loaded hills and town.

I suppose it depends on where you drive it .... on the open road loaded I can get 8l/100kms, however the commute 30km round trip (all city & suburbs) realises 13l/100km constantly. Can barely do 600kms on a full tank of BP Ulitmate Diesel (which is all we use) + additives to each tank. So much so that my wife has now started to commute with GTI as its lighter on fuel ...... and cheaper to run. The GTI does 9l/100km on the same round 30km trip !

That is pretty crap economy........On a bad week, I'll get 9l/100km. On a good week, I get around 7.8l/100km.
Mine is a 132kw DSG. Worst I got, was 13l/100km, when the van was fully loaded with camping gear, generator, motorbike, jerry cans etc. and a tandem car trailer with a beetle on the trailer.

.....btw.....What additives are you using? Some do worse than help things.

I'm with you Transporter, nearing 5 years of ownership 138K km, average economy is 10.4L/100km and average speed has been 38km/hr for 128kW auto.

To go from a TDI to the TSI would cost me around $1,600 more a year in fuel

Yes I'd prefer a petrol engine, but I love the lower consumption and the longer range of the diesel

Well I've finally test driven a TSI350 Multi and it was an OMG experience, could a van really drive like this ?!!!!!!! Smooth power, no diesel clatter and none of the TDI hesitation when called upon to accelerate. DSG hesitation off the line still there

Having just driven our MV 1500km, averaging 8l/100km on the open road, the TSI's 8.5l/100km is something I could live with, even if it happened to be 50% more than that

I believe any drive that I pay for should at least be fun to some extent as well and the TSI is the 1st MV I've driven that delivered fun. Needless to say, specs (including bi-xenon lights) are being finalized prior to an order to ensure a 2013 build date fr a new TSI MV for us
