T5 2008 bonnet wont open

T5 bonnet wont open

Went to check the oil..........pulled the lever under the dash.

Bonnet unclicked and opened to allow finger access to lift the opening lever but on lifting/putting pressure on the lever it wont open the bonnet.

Help!!!!!!!

Hi Steve...................thanks muchos, just finished the procedure and all is good.

Appears there was oxidization between/on the hook pin and the plastic lever wasn't strong/stiff enough to force the hook to move.

As per your instructions I placed a large screwdriver against the hook but I still needed to tap it with a hammer before it would move to the left.

Gave it a liberal dose of Penetrene and it loosened up easily.

Guessing it came about because the doublecab isn't garaged.

You saved me a trip to the dealer and possibly some $$.
