T5 2007 1.9litre Manual LWB tranporter & Oettinger ECU upgrade

Well I had this done by my VW mechanic 18months ago at 15000km on the clock. I was told that I should get another 50nm (up from 250) and another 20kw up from 75 from memory.

I converted my 2007 T5 into an 8 seater (2 bench seats) for my family (poor mans caravelle) and thought that an extra 50nm wouldn't go astray. I would say the difference is noticeable but not earth shattering. Fuel economy is a tad better (its not driven hard by any stretch).

I was charged $1350 at the time ... was I ripped off ?

Also something that did happen after the upgrade (which neither my mechanic nor Oettinger upon inquiry have figured out) was at around 1800-1900rpm while accelerating there is a faint sporadic shudder from the engine bay. It doesn't always happen and its not a major shudder but it does happen and it is consistent. Would appreciate any thoughts on this as well

It doesn't sound right, get it properly diagnosed. Probably problem with the tune. What suburb are you in?

Pasadena 5042 ... my mechanic (German Auto) spent a reasonable amount of time on it and couldn't really give me a straight answer on why the shudder was there. Is what I paid for the upgrade reasonable (At one stage I was quoted $1800 for this upgrade before the $A dollar hit its straps )

For the Oettinger tune, that is cheap. I was quoted just under $2k when I wanted it on my van, so I didn't get it done.
Instead I bought the plug in power upgrade elsewhere for $1050, and it worked fine. Got better fuel economy and more power down low.
Mine was also the 77kw 1.9 tdi (LWB Crewvan)

You're just down the hill from me. I can have a look at it after 20 December if you like.

Were you happy with the result ..... what is the upper performance limit of the T5 1.9 motor (ie how close is my 300nm to the tolerable limit). I haven't had our power output checked but I am supposed to have 300nm motor now

I was very happy with the result.
as mentioned earlier, the low down power was notably different, and the fuel economy was better. This could be adjusted by the user at any time.
When my van was written off, I removed the unit and gave it to a mate with an identical van. He likes it too.

Never had it on a real dyno to test the output.........I used my sphincter dyno for my measurements.

Is your van an auto or manual ? if auto it could be a problem with the auto not being able to handle the extra grunt our 2.5 Tiptronic had this problem very early on and when I tried to get VW to check it they refused .

As per thread title....Manual 1.9 litre ..... thing is, irrespective of this extra grunt we rarely use it .... we are very sedate drivers but this slight irregular (it doesn't always occur) vibration/rumble/shimmy appears from time to time as a consequence of this upgrade.
