I love these 3D lights at the bottom of the door cards!

To achieve this I bought some of these red panel mount lights, originally an AUDI part:

And some custom-fitted red LED bulbs to replace the standard incan bulbs:

And the awesome VW dual red/white combined warning/puddle lights from the mk5/6 era Golfs/Tiguans:

And finally some custom 3-D LED modules for the above lights from BoldSport:

Note that the 3D lights were very difficult to fit perfectly in the T5 door cards, because in the proper Golf/Tiguan door cards there is a molded indent for the lights to sit flush on. Whereas when cutting a hole in the T5 door card, the 3D lights sit somewhat proud of the door card. It's not really noticeable unless you compare them to the Golf and see how perfect they sit there. In retrospect another option would have been to use another pair of red AUDI lights, with a separate pair of white AUDI lights at the bottom.

In contrast the AUDI lights are super easy to fit anywhere, just cut a hole and they clip in! I use them as footwell lights too (in any car not just VW)

Instructions:

Wiring was dead easy, behind the door card I used the thick red wire going to the window motor as +ve, and then in the loom going to the door lock module there are switched ground connections (grounded only when door is open). The colour codes are Right/Drivers door black and Left/Passenger door black/brown

NB my mirrors also have puddle lights at the bottom.
