So one of our work vehicles is a 08 1.9 Tdi t5 transporter and its a great vehicle.. We are wanting to swap the other work ute to a t5 as well except we use the ute to tow the trailer and honestly the little 1.9 is sluggish at the best of times, let alone with a 1.8 ton trailer.
So my question is, what can be done to the t5 to get some more grunt? We don't want to sacrifice reliability at all and would prefer not to completely lose our fuel economy although obviously more power will likely need more fuel.
Are there any basic things like intake, tune or similar that noticeably help these engines?
Thanks for your time.

What's the engine code? BRR or BRS? BRR was only 55kw, and the BRS is 77kw.
Make sure the EGR valve and intake flap are cleaned of sludge every once in a while. They clog up and rob power.
According to owners in the UK, these respond very well to ECU tunes.
I've got a BRS one, and it's ok considering the tonne of gear I carry around. With more power, I think it'd be really testing the limits of the gearbox and stub shafts.
