Have you also checked the sensor on the engine ?
Hi there,
This problem has been increasing gradually and now I'm at the point where my temp gauge does not read anything on the dial. It stays down all the time. I pulled it apart to have a look and it seems very simple however maybe the resistors are worned out and I need to replace them. I have changed the temp sensor last year so it's fairly new..
So shall I get a new temp/fuel gauge or there is something down the line I must fix?
Is there a thread dedicated to this issue?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum vonz. One thing to keep in mind when asking for advice is to include all your vans details. As a minimum, year of manufacture, engine size whether petrol or diesel & sometimes trans type is needed. I have read where some of the early models had dry joints occurring in the instrument cluster that just need to be resoldered to fix.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
