    T4 syncro reverse issue

    Hi ,
Can anyone guide me with this problem please?
My 99 T4 dual cab syncro seemed to have an issue trying to reverse this morning after a 60 klm drive, it was fine when cold & reversing out of my driveway?
Has anyone else experienced this problem ?
If so, what was the solution ?

    Thanks,
    Nath

More info required...like what was the nature of the problem? Stating that you 'seemed to have an issue trying to reverse this morning' just isn't enough to go on.

    Hi Seano,
Sorry, I didn't have time to look further into it as it happened at the airport carpark.
It didn't seem to want to go backwards, as if the handbrake was on tight & holding it up ( it wasn't). Something seemed bound up/ restricting it from going back,

It could be a few things, bent or faulty gear linkage or selectors not allowing gears to be selected properly
    Rear brake pads locking

The syncro wasn't available with auto.

I think the van needs putting up on a hoist to check the free motion of the rear wheels with the gearbox in neutral.
Does your Syncro have diff lock?

Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Thanks for the advice guys, it hasn't happened again, which is a bit confusing.
it was up on the hoist today......no issues that can be seen, fluids all checked out fine, I'll just have to keep an eye on it for the time being

Turned out to be the viscous coupling, my mechanic mate managed to source a good 2nd hand one , as an exchange one from VAG is $5800 !!!!!
