t4 - replacing fised side windows with sliding

I'm looking at getting a t4 swb - it has fixed windows in the middle section which I would like to replace with sliding - is it as easy as popping them out and replacing them with sliders (like the old kombis?) or is there more involved?
Also - how much do the windows go for?

if the windows are like my t5, the only way to get them off is to smash them, as they are glued on. I was quoted $750 for each sliding window

Fixed windows in the T4s don't generally appear to be the bonded-in type like on the T5s, they're what's called 'rubber-in' on the Tyson's website, using a rubber channel/seal that can be easily removed and replaced. Usually helps to use a sealant between the rubber and the metal as well.

Don't know exactly how the sliding window assemblies are framed though so this could impact on the type of rubber seal used.

Do a google on auto rubber window seals or chase it up with Clark Rubber, they might have the type of extrusion you need.

yeah mate it would depend if its got the genuine vw style bonded (caravelle) windows or aftermarket rubber seal type. aftermarket are easy to get out and might even be the same size hole . all depends if you are talking genuine style or aftermarket

so they are most probably held in by rubber seal like the old kombis...
ossie - if I find a fixed window van and you can send them to brisbane then I'll gladly take them off your hands...

Oh by the way, I've got two sliding windows for sale for a T4 in good condition, 100 bucks for both of them.

    Cheers

    Hi
Im interested in your windows for a T4. Are they the same as the Caravelle sliding windows? Or are they the fixed glass type? If so how can I buy them from you? Will you sell just the drivers side only. Happy to pay for postage. Im in Victoria. Please send text and Ill call you back.
    Thanks Tim
