    T4 No heater

First time I had to turn the heater on and there is no heat...are there common heater faults in a T4?

The main problem is the knobs used for the controls are connected to the various control valves by steel wire inside a steel coil not a good combo in our humid climate they often jam and then you wind up with broken controls or the wire might have come off the control valve under the bonnet or maybe the valve is jammed in the closed position with corrosion . You can see the heater control cable under the bonnet it comes through the firewall and connects to the valve its just under the water reservoir there is a hose with a fitting which is the valve its probably stuck or the cable itself is seized [this is what's wrong with my sons T4 ]

Control valve seized which in turn stuffs the plastic gearing on the dash controls either swap out or sometimes u can operate it manually in the engine bay. I kept mines seized in the cold posi for brizzy

Reminds me to get into the engine bay and turn my tap for winter. I really should try an organise a push pull solenoid for this one day...

Maybe a trip to the wreckers if my memory serves me well the good old days there were lots of pull push knobs that were used for things like choke and old style heater demister controls , told you I miss the good old days .

A good wrecker in Centre rd, near me. So I will get along and have a look at what's there.

That'd work. You can still buy generic choke control kits from decent auto shops. Fit the knob down on the lowest console in front of the stick (next to the pointless and ridiculous air filter resistance meter). That way you get a bit of mixing control back. Might replace the plastic valve for a brass unit from Enzed while I'm at it...

To my delight someone had beaten me to it. Choke cable and valve already fitted. Can turn temp from warm to sauna!
