My camper is based on the transporter so has the basic interior light. While wandering around the wreckers[U-pull-it] I noticed a couple of Seat Cordobas. The interior lights looked the same size as my van but had the addition of a map reading light.
I carefully removed them & noticed the printed circuit board with extensive componentry. I figured they must have delayed turn off.
I payed $6 each[new VW price $200] so figured not much demand for them.
The wiring plug in my van was identical, so it was a 2 minute job to install. The light could be installed with the map reader for the driver if you travel alone.
Now there is a bit of a trap, both lamps were removed from '95 Seat with the same part no ILO 947 105B but they are different lengths.
One was made in Spain[didn't recognize the brand], the other[the one that fitted] was Hella brand made in Germany.
The lamp that is longer & fits is the one in the foreground.
I found the time delay was too short for me so I asked a close friend who is an electronics Guru how hard would it be to increase it.
Very easy he said. The 25 micro farad electrolytic condensor was replaced with a 100 mf which increased the time to 23 secs.
While we are at it I could change the festoon globe for an LED he said. These were only a couple of dollars on Ebay from china & two were soldered in parallel. There is room for a third if you want even more light. He suggested, in retrospect it would have been nicer in warm white rather than in daylight.

Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
