So I had a clunking noise from my T4 for the last couple of weeks, which has not been getting any worse. I suspected a knackered engine mount.

Today it got worse and was getting bad to drive. I inspected and the engine has fallen down on the drivers side. However, the engine mount is fine, but the bolts that hold it to the block have ripped out and broken the piece off the side of the block that they need to bolt too! Arrrgh

Im faced with making up a bracket or swopping the motor. 2L van motors are a couple of grand at the wreckers. I`d really like a smashed TDI donor, but they seem scarse and expensive, so I could either bolt in an 8v 1.8 Golf engine, or a 16v.

I`m thinking 16v, but can it be made to run on the exising digifant fuel injection system? I have done some research and it seems that if I use an aftermarket fuel rail, I can use the digi throttlebody and injectors and just swop the lump. Maybe an ABF fuel rail will fit? Anyone have any thoughts on this, or shall I just put an 8v in it?
