The worst thing about the V6 is the transmission. It is the weak link.
Just make sure you buy the model with the driver's airbag, not the earlier one with the large steering wheel.

Hi All,
I am in the market for a T4 Caravelle. I have owned two T4 Transporters in the past, one 2.5L Petrol and one 2.5L TDi.
Just wondering if anyone has some general tips on what to look out for.
Also, anyone has any experience with the V6 Petrol Model?
Thanks in advance

VR6 -> manual and automatic gearbox
V6 -> only automatic gearbox
The gearbox of the V6 lasts for 150.000 to 200.000 km (compared to the TDI with 120.000 to 150.000 the "less weaker point"?).
Additional the V6 (also the VR6) can cause a lot of money spent on the change of the steering chain (no belts!).
Here in germany the "record" for the VR6 is about 400.000 km before revision, a V6 having about 300.000 km and the second gearbox is also still running...
