    T4 Caravelle Owners...

I have a thread going on looking for seven seaters with extra child restraints, seems the Multivan has them, but it a little on the expensive side.

So can someone with a T4 Caravelle with all the seats in place tell me if there are child restraint points on the back of the 2nd AND 3rd row seats.

Sorry if I am butting in - I have a T4 Kombi (poor mans Caravelle) and it has child restraints on the back of the middle seat and D rings at the bottom of the very back seat so you could have 5 child restraints fitted or you get the CRAB bar fitted along the top at the back. I have photos if you want to see...

Yes, I definately want to see photos! THANKS

I have noticed those D Rings in photo's on Carsales and wanted to confirm they are able to legally be used for child restraints and aren't there for some other random reason.

Well here is the photos and I will go and check my handbook to see if they are mentioned. Are you looking to buy? I am thinking of selling - although it will be breaking my heart....

The seat covers are custom. I have never used the restraint points as all my kids were past child seats when I bought it and I am not having any more.

I am in the market for a replacement vehicle to cram in more kids sometime in the next few months. I have only just started looking to see what is even capable of doing what I want. Since it's for my wife I would much prefer auto, otherwise it's pretty much open.

Would be pretty interested in seeing some pics of the car itself and a couple of the cargo area with the back row in place.

You wont want it - its a manual.

I bought it brand new in 2003 from Chatswood. I wanted a manual (I like manuals) and I had heard you go through the brakes pretty quickly in an auto in one of these or a Caravelle and they are not cheap brakes. The benefits of going with the Kombi is:
They are 9 seaters, still has aircon in front, airbags in front, NO CARPET (cause there is nothing worse than trying to get kids spew out of carpet) and they are cheaper as they have less bling. I was able to buy it new for $42K when I was struggling to get a decent low klm's Caravelle at the time for around $30K .I have replaced the front bench with a single seat (although I still own the bench) so its just an 8 seater atm. I had it lowered not too long ago by Matt and have added nice rims. Its been serviced every 5,000ks and its had its major 100,000k service. I dont think there are any atm on Car Sales, but keep your eyes open (and they DO come in auto).

What am I thinking??? I really dont want to sell it.

Thanks alot for that, I'm sitting here with the wife showing her Multivans, Transporters and Caravelles and she thinks they are all ugly... but then I show her this one and she seems to think it's not too bad

Seems it's all about the colour

Your right though, there isn't alot around, only 3 on Carsales at the moment and all 2005+ at that (so a little more than I want to spend).

I just found it in my handbook - its in the Australian Model Supplement - yes they are child restraint anchors across the last row seat.

They didnt come in too many colours - yellow, 2 shades of red (mine is Tornado), white, jade green and I have seen silver which is really nice but I have only ever seen one on the road.

I really wanted the red, I waited 7-8 weeks for the dealer in Newcastle to get one in for a test drive (still waiting ) and Chatswood had that one on the floor so we bought it on the spot.

I am sure you know you can pick up bargain Bretheren mobiles, but keep this model in mind - especially with kids - good luck.
