    T4 2.5 petrol idle problem

    Hi all
    I have a T4 with a 2.5 petrol that will not idle.
It will start up fine but immediately stall, however I can keep it running and drive it fine if i keep my foot on the accelerator a little, so it doesn't seem to be a fuel or air delivery issue.

It's a 98 so from a little research I'm lead to believe it doesn't have an idle control valve as such? Is thios correct?

Has anyone encountered something similar or know of any solutions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it's really thrown me off.

    Cheers

Start and stall with throttle input is an immobiliser fault.
Start and keep running with throttle input, sounds like a throttle body assembly fault, does it compensate for loads when the car is running? AC / lights etc.Is the idle low at aorund550/ 600rpm when hot. and not at 750-800? if so, thorttle body fault. Don't just replace it,
have it tested by a VW specialist.

Ended up putting in a new Coolant Temperature Sensor and O ring and cleaning out the throttle body with some throttle body cleaner and spraying it in there with the engine running so it'll go through the system.

Seems to have worked a treat and only took 5 mins and $20.

Recommend anyone with similar symptoms try this first.
