Well done. I like to read about people having a go & enjoying success. Unfortunately not many of us left now.
All done. Bloody hell the crank bolt needs a twist! Made up the tool below to hold the pulley. Rough, but it worked!

Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.

Have to agree with Jets it just goes to show what can be done when you put your mind to it , I even resorted to a home made device to change the track rod ends a while back on my sons T4
Thanks, it was a useful half hours work...it is still intact too, though I hope I never have to use it again. Very poor looking welds though.
It did get a workout too. the socket had two long extensions (supported by a wood log) to get to the breaker bar and then a 2m length of 350mpa roll cage tube. There was a full 30deg of flex before it moved the bolt!
How long since your dub was driven as that disk rotor has heaps of rust on it ?
No idea. I've had it for 2 months and bought it unrunning. Engine now has some compression when turned over, which is an improvement.
20lt of new fuel needed, old leads cleaned up as new ones from bosch were for 1996 vw and 5k ohm resistance vs the 1k ohm as on the car and it runs!
Need new multi-V tensioner pulley and I'm done.
