Have you tried the fuel pump relay??
I have a few broken 2.4D engines here with good pumps and a new relay somewhere I think.
You need special pump timing tools to setup the pump.
Hi all desperate here , I cannot start engine 1996 - 7 2.4 and I suspect that the fuel cutoff solenoid on the end of the injector pump has died have 12v on one wire and 10.4v both positive . I am assuming thats correct with key on , had some problems a few months ago when the engine would keep running after the ignition was switched off and had to stall to stop or quickly turn key off and on a few times always random on how it would stop . next problem is should the solenoid make a noise when turned on and how does it come out have two recesses in plastic body at end of pump but cannot make any tool fit to undo. Help please Howard

I havent checked the relay but I should point out that this only happened after this diesel was transplanted into a diiferent van . I was very careful taking photos and marking wires and swapping relays etc so all connections seem fine . Also because this was a complete transplant exhaust fuel tank every thing you can think of , I am wondering if its a fuel air lock as the tank was drained prior to refitting so the lines filter etc would have been empty to start with . The reason for the transplant is this engine was in my sons van and we couldn,t justify spending money on a motor with over 350000 ks as it needed new seal in the injector pump timing belt water pump tensioner and vacumm pump so we bought aT4 2.5 petrol van certainly not for its beauty but only for its brawn and did the swap now all I want to do is get the old motor going in the donor van and sell it as is and get some dollars back . Regards Howard
Problem solved thanks to Jmac engine immobiler had to be changed over as well as every thing else that I had done .
[SIZE=4]HI GUYS.. I have the same problem, ( engine runs on , when ignition is turned off) and seem to have identified the problem as being a broken fuel stop solenoid. Does anyone know how to change this unit?
There doesnt appear to be anyway way of removing it!, it must be possible, as replacement parts are available. Solenoids for the 1.9 engines are a simple screw in type `plug`, but the one on this engine has no clear removal method....please advise!
