    T3 V-Belt Water Pump & Alternator

    Hi,

    I have a 1989 VW T3 with the 2.1lt engine, and I urgently need a new water pump/alternator v-belt.

I've tried Repco, Bursons and Supercheap, but no luck. Just Kampers has them on their web site, but they're closed until 15 January.

Does anyone know where I can get a v-belt in Melbourne before 3 January?

    Cheers,

    Nick

Imparts and HSY will re-open on the 2nd. They're trade-only, but you can give them a try.

Tooleys are another option, but they typically have a fairly extended closure over Christmas/New Years, so who knows when they'll re-open.

Do you know the length of the belt? Perhaps a Gates stockist could match it up?

Hi, Thanks for that. The v-belt size is 10mm x 1100mm.

According to Gates, part numbers should be as follows:

    Alternator - 11A1075 or 11A1105
    Aircon - 13A1150
    Power Steer - 11A1080

There's no current listing for the 11A1075 or 11A1100, which I assume are superceded by the 1080 and 1105 respectively. 5mm won't make much difference over that length. Supercheap should be able to source both sizes without too much trouble.

Thanks... I also checked the Gates web site and found part number 11A1105, which is listed as being compatible with "MV" serial number 2.1lt engines - see below web site link.

    Product | Gates

I rang Repco in Moorabbin this morning and they had 4 in stock, probably because the same belt apparently fits a range of other car models including Holden, Hyundai, Fiat, etc.

Anyway, I got one from Repco for $13.29 and fitted it this morning. However, it may be a little too long for the job (ie 1105mm) because the amount of adjustment left on the alternator adjuster slide is only a few millimeters.

An 11A1090 exists, which is the next size down.

I suspect 11A1090 would probably work better by allowing more adjustment free play, but 11A1105 does do the job as well.

HSY will usually sell to you at the counter..........you just won't get the 'Trade' price
