    T3 or T4

Looking at both t3 and t4 vans, both body's in good cond and have similar kms 170k and similar price.
Looking for positives and negatives on both.
Also looking at a diesel t4 auto with 140k for a few bucks more
    Cheers

You'd be paying a premium for the T3 given its 'vintage'. T4 will handle better when either the 3 or 4 are sorted. Less plastic on the T3. Non-service parts are equally expensive and tricky to obtain. T4 is probably safer in an accident. T3 is potentially more modifiable.

    Run a mile from a T4 diesel auto...or any T4 auto.

There's nothing much wrong with them per se. It was the tool behind the wheel. If you drive one you'll understand.

Basically they were revved to the nuts to get them moving and revved again to keep them there...when flogged like this they become quite a bit tainted in the minds eye.

Yes agree Seano my son's T4 was a 2.4 diesel originally and you had to plan overtaking to the precise moment , wait for a clear view ahead [at least two kms] and also make sure it was downhill as well . My son got sick of the performance and I transplanted 2.5 petrol engine/ gearbox /instruments /exhaust/ fuel tank/ fuel lines/ and exhaust to make it a real stormer .

I don't like driving them but some enjoy it.
If it is a drive by wire van [2.5TDI] whenever you touch the brake pedal the drive goes into neutral. So you are trying to do a hill start and the lights change but after taking your foot of the brake there is a delay before the drive engages. This results in rolling back & a sudden shock as the drive is engaged. When I had one, I used to pull on the handbrake, take foot off brake pedal just before the green light. Release the handbrake [long way down] & your away.
    I wouldn't buy another.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
