Swivel passenger seats - VW Multivan 2017

Hi all, I'm sure this may have been covered previously but I'm starting a new thread anyway.

I want to convert the passenger seat to swivel & need advice on the following:

    - I believe there's a swivel base that can be purchased...does it fix to the existing seat & floor mounts?
    - for the handbrake, will this need to be changed to allow clearance?
    - are there any engineering roadworthy requirements once this is done (Qld)?

    Thanks in advance!

We have two factory swivel seats in our kombi beach, they both appear to mount onto the standard seat bases, which are simple metal ones that also came standard in the beach. The handbreak must be put down in the non applied position to allow the drivers seat to pass over it, then it can be re-applied once turned. The passenger's seat doesn't clash on anything although the passenger door which must be opened slightly while it passes.

As these were allowed to be sold in all states, you wouldn't need to do anything if you obtained a standard swivel captain's seat as they are called because they also have arm rests on them.

Forgot to mention, I am describing a 2006 model.

    Great thanks for the reply!
In that case I'm thinking of purchasing something like this plate below. I assume it bolts between the raised base and the seat body:

These are not like the original captains seats, if you remove a seat, the entire mechanism comes with the seat as one unit. That doesn't mean your example one won't work, but you will have to nut out any problems as you go.

As this is non factory using it would probably require certification by an engineer as well.

    Thanks for the reply.
I'm comfortable doing the work myself & sorting out any alignment issues, but now thinking that the engineering needs to be considered beforehand.

Should have gone to Qld Caravan and Camping show they had a couple of VW,s with passengers' seat rotated on display along with a couple of other vans as well from other manufacturers , they were obviously converted for camping.

Not absolutely certain, but some adapters are type approved, means no separate engineer approval necessary, is the case with my own, which was certificated without swivel noted on the approval. Check with suppliers first.

The aftermarket adapters usually raise the seat height marginally.
