    Sorry, should have been clearer:
    Low beam
    High beam
    Indicator (front/rear)
    Parking light (front/rear)
    Numberplate light

    are all computer controlled.

Perhaps your current numberplate lights are CANBUS compatible (resisted) or maybe the T5 doesn't scan numberplate lights?

    Thoughts?
I've had mine in for well over a week with no issues yet but mine is a T5 not a T6. See below.

They may be computer controlled but each is protected by a fuse. In my experience a fuse is there to protect the cable so if the cable draws to much current the fuse will blow protecting the cable and anything upstream of it i.e. the BCM. Also the headlights, high and low beam, are switched through a relay, this tells me they are controlled by something else, most likely the BCM.
This is all speculation though and is why I would really like to get my hands on a wiring diagram to see for myself.

My number plate lights are definitely not CANBUS compatible, they are just LED replacement festoon bulbs.
My DRL LED's are CANBUS compatible, they have the resistor necessary on the PCB, although I doubt I actually need them. They were just available with the bayonet fitting so that's why I bought them, oh and they were about $3 each!

New wheels fitted yesterday along with the King Springs last week and we're up high and moving! Ride is incredibly good, it has probably even gotten better than the original ride to be honest.

Tyres: 245/65 17 Toyo Open Country A/T II Light Truck version with a 117 load rating
Rims: Dynamic Wheel Company Sunraysia 17x7.5in ET30 5x120 in black, load rated to 1200kgs so perfect for me, centre bore mounted for the perfect fit.
Total lift is 50mm front and 80mm rear averaged out over both ends from stock.

Mark, where will you get insulation from? Will you do it yourself?
    regards

Hi Matt, I haven't decided if I'm going to use something like Dynamat yet or just put some insulation in the cavities.
For insulation I'll probably buy a bag or two of some roofing insulation at a local hardware store. It's a pretty simple task so I will do it myself like I did in my Hiace. The stuff I got for the Hiace was for free from a job site I worked on a few year ago.

As a motor trimmer for over 40 years plus I have a preference for a product which we called Triflex its on a roll 1.8 metres wide and 10mm thick . It is made up of shredded wool products which makes it the best at insulation and sound proofing , it is also better pricing but you do need to have a compressor and spray glue to apply . I have done quite a few vans most VW,s and every single one of the owners have been amazed at how quiet they are afterwards . There are some extra tricks that will help do a more comprehensive job , like stuffing the pillars with 4 inch thick foam usually an old foam matress will do cut it into strips and feed it into the pillars and also over the top of the rear wheel arches which is where a lot of road noise comes from . I also have used expanda foam for some areas but be aware don't use it where it can place outward pressure on external metal surfaces , also use a race tape or similar to seal every single hole in the side walls . a lot of people forget to remove the roof trims as there is next to no sort of insulation up there just a couple of those tar paper sheets . The front doors and sides and the tailgate are always done as well you can see a couple of my fit outs .here .http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/foru...tml?highlight= and our own van New T5 Project

Added a small +1 about 8 weeks ago and therefore needed some extra seating so today I fitted a double foldable and removable rear seat, non genuine but approved for use in Aus, now just need to get it engineered. Wasn't cheap at $1500 but couldn't find any VW used ones. Installation was pretty straight forward but now I've gotta build out behind them to house all my tools and stock for work duties. Another project to put into the pipeline which includes the ability to go away
camping in it, so it has to be multi functional.
    Location testing/deciding

    Finished!
