What's the outcome?

Strikes me as a fuel/timing issue. Either way bloody inconvenient!
Re bulbs, in my experience the cheaper "high output" globes are hit and miss. I've tried them in the past and they've rarely lasted that long. I've been running the top spec Narva globes for many years, NOT the blue ones, and won't use anything else. I've tried Phillips and can't justify the extra cost over the Narvas. Especially since the last set I got lasted >12 months, the Narva +120s I replaced them with have lasted longer.
As for wiring the LED bar to a seperate switch, it's actually a legal requirement to have them switched. Not simply wired to come on with high beam, been caught in the past without a switch. I'm pushing my luck at the moment with my Citroen, while both sets of Hella Rallye 1000s are switched, the actual switches are in the engine bay beside the power distro box. Running wires in that thing is a nightmare, can't drill the firewall as it's double skinned and high strength steel and the main harness comes in just about under the floor.
Did you get a response yesterday? ...hopefully it's the least expensive/time consuming outcome.
I was also curious...I think you said you came from a Hiace? ...was wondering what your reasons were for making the change...and what your current thoughts are about having made the change.

I can give you a couple of reasons for anyone leaving a Hi Ace , too narrow they always feel top heavy . Even though they are rear wheel drive they will easily lift one wheel off the ground around corners and roundabouts , nearly no frontal protection just a dash and windscreen scary to see how easy it would be to get some leg chopping done in a full frontal prang . Terrible ride very choppy with a tendency to bounce the rear end off the ground [ I was witness to this while following one over a rough road scary ] the poor sod nearly ended up sideways while the VW remained on track . Can,t comment on reliability but could it be worse than some Transporter Vans .
Funny about that. I gave up on my 2 litre suitcase Kombi when a gate trailer jackknifed & stopped just before he hit me & went to a T4.
I was hoping you might not see my question tucked away over here...you've previously made me well aware of your views
However the op mentioned he had come from a Hiace...and I was just interested to get his views...originally and now.
I had been following this thread as a good news story...until I saw that tow truck...
And as I prepare for tomorrows replacement of the passenger drive shaft...that was only replaced 18 months ago...I dream about my previous petrol engine made in japan vehicles...with their lack of comfort and safety...and older technology with less complexity.
I just want a van to be a van...that I can trust to be reliable...and that I don't have to spend a fortune keeping it on the road.

Two words stand out from your comment and I love them "less complexity "
