Koni or KYB. However, harshness is usually springs in my opinion. Dampers just manage how they bounce...
Hi All,
Apologies for asking the same old question.
My Transporter is carrying a bit of weight in a large cargo draw at the rear and about 120kg of batteries in the middle, plus some water etc. Last trip over the weigh bridge it weighed just over 2.5Ton.
I figure I'm up about 600kg or so, before I climb in.
Ride has always been harsh. Am considering air bags to replace the coils in the rear (they were excellent in my Falcon wagon).
Can someone offer opinions on shocks that will smooth out the ride, I don't play boy racer. Just after the smoothest ride I can get. Will prob need to replace front shocks as well, as the car has done 220,000km and I've had it for most of those kms and haven't replaced anything but tyres.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Cheers
Ian

Hi, replaced original rear shocks (one was leaking) on 2006 LWB Crewvan at 106524klm by Pedders, part # 120216
Have noticed from day one that rear-end was a tad harsh.
I also have a set of OUTBACK roller draws in the rear full of tools, draws empty weigh close to 90kg + approx 100kg tools.
Only reason going for Pedders was $312/pair compared with OEM at $800+/pair.
