    Second Battery

With the second battery situated under the pax seat, is this battery in parallel with the engine battery? Is there a system to disengage it from the engine battery when the voltage drops or do they both reduce in voltage in tandem?

    Hi Shifter,
yes the second battery is connected in parallel with the main battery and only connects to main battery for charging and only after you start up. Here is some info., you probably already saw.
What are you planning to do with your factory (?) dual battery set up?

Thanks for that. My cunning plan is to fit an inverter to run my fridge in the slide on which my Transporter carries. My plan is to use the second battery power to run it, but only when the engine is runing. I recon a 600 w inverter should do the job. When the engine is stopped I'll run on gas for the fridge. Should be ok.

If both engine start and second batteries are in parellel when the engine is running then the third battery which I have in my slide also parallels to them via a low voltage disconnect realy. This means, then, that when the engine is running all three battereis are connected together dependend on voltage.

    Interesting!
