I was thinking exactly the same thing a few days ago.
Might get some and just try them.......Haven't got anything to lose really.
I'm getting sick of replacing the filament style 21 watt run light globes which burn out with monotonous regularity.
Do LED replacements exist, and are they likely to cause any hiccups with the "fault detect" system in the circuitry?
Anybody out there who has actually done this replacement?
Regards,
Geoff.

I replaced one of my daytime drive lights with and LED. No dramas, both LED & incandescent work fine.
The ECE specification for a category P21W filament lamp has a reference luminous flux of 460 lm at 13.5 V with a tolerance of +/- 15%.
You may want to consider using Osram's Ultra Life range or Philips' LongLife EcoVision range of bulbs, which claim longer a lifespan. A pair of Osram Ultra Life P21W bulbs can be bought for about AUD 9.00 on eBay.
It has also been suggested that removing and refitting the bulb may cause it to start working again, indicating a possible fault with the headlamp unit, so check the filament carefully before discarding the bulb.
I picked up mine tom Jaycar- they cost about $30 each. I only got one, but the sales guy was very confident with them.
Thanks guys ... BTW, I figure that if the bulb has turned black it's a no brainer that it's beyond recall.

You could mulit-meter it to be completely sure, but as in the rule for steak - brown is cooked, black is fooked!
