I need to replace the front and rear rotors and pads on our 2009 T5 Caravelle after 75000kms.

Has anyone had experience with the RDA brand?
I found a set of front and rear rotors/pads for $192 and $222, respectively. Is this too cheap?

I was going to get this job done by a mechanic who deals with VWs, but quotes start at $1100+, and having a look at a few videos I'm confident I can do it myself!
Some of these mechanics said they use Textar and RDA.

    Recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

ATE are a direct replacement for the OEM parts, so same compunds used in the pads and rotors, etc, likewise Textar.

RDA, etc you get what you pay for.

$1100, or thereabouts, is pretty much what most T5s come in at, when I've priced them up for front and rear pad and rotor change, using decent parts. Seems like a lot, but once labour is factored in, it's at least a 2.5hr job to do properly.

Unlike Umai I am NOT a mechanic but I have done multiple replacements to our 4 T5's over the years , its not that hard to do yourself . Probably the two bits that need a bit of elbo grease is cracking the two main bolts that hold the caliper to the hub , I used a jack under a long extension bar on each bolt and used the weight of the van to loosen the bolts while jacking the bar upwards . After that the only other ting is the backing off of the pistons , there is some info a couple of post a few weeks ago with that info . I used one of the Forum sponsors for the parts they are based in Brisbane GSL Rally Sports , you can give them your VIN number and they can then quote you a price for various brands and quality parts .

Yes but you can get away with an allen key or a light tap with the tip of a screw driver for the one on the disc itself .

There's probably a hidden reason here as to why mechanics charge what they do...

Well they have to earn a living, I get that, as a tradie myself, insurances overheads ect ect.
For brakes the job is about as easy as it gets.

I was more referring to the investment in the specific tools required to do the job properly.

Sorry Umai I wasn,t trying to undermine the expertise and cost regarding tooling etc that you most certainly have .
