    Repost of Newbie post!

    Thought I should repost this in the appropriate area! Have just completed the 1100km trek from ACT to Byron. My 2005 multivan ran fine but on arrival has decided that although closed, it shall continually sound the alarm that the rear drivers sliding door is open. Local auto electricians/repairers won't touch it with a barge pole! I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a quick fix to silence the alarm or convince the car that the door is infact shut!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Obvious question but have you located the door sensor and tried to pull it out at all? Might be as simple as shorting the two wires to the sensor as a temporary fix.

    Hi jazd, yup, have tried shorting the loom that goes from the drivers side front door through to the rear door. Both bofore and after the where the sliding door connects to the pillar, but there is no difference.

    ....as for the sensor, I currently have the sliding door trim off but cant exactly establish which part is the sensor

    You could always try the open all the doors and press lock unlock a few times on the remote then close them all and do it again. Some times it seems to reset everything. Worked for me when my 05 was playing up.

    you havent mentioned whether the interior light is on as well this would eliminate a door switch being a problem as if the door is shut and the light goes out then the switch should be fine . There would be suspicion that the fault is in a body control computer itself , this the problem with new car technology today some little micro chip has a heart attack and it can kill the car !!!!!! Howard {yeah I know I have a running hatred of some of todays technology it just isn,t worth the trouble it can cause }

    Hi Sunny, thanks for the reply. Yes the interior light is on but not constantly, more so flickering! have pulled the fuse for it (the light) but still no joy. Also tried various instrument fuses to try and silence the alarm but no luck....looks like ear plugs for the journey home
